The Three Pillars of Japan’s Education: National, Public, and Private Schools”

In Japan, you can 3 types of school: national, public, and private. These three offer everything from elementary school to doctoral courses in graduate schools. In total, there are 86 national schools, 89 public schools, and 482 private schools.

The Cost of Graduate School in Japan

It’s not a surprise that graduate school needs to be paid by admission and tuition fees just like in other developed countries. Costs of the first year in Graduate school are approximately:
national – 820,000 yen
public – 900,000 yen
private – 1,100,000 yen

Japan’s Affordable Tuition

On the other hand, admission and tuition fees in the USA and UK are much more expensive and to prove it, in the USA the fees start at 1,600,000 yen and can go up to 3,500,000 yen and in the UK fees are from 1,800,000 yen to 4,500,000 yen. After comparing these charges, the tuition fee for Japanese universities is much cheaper.

English Programs on the Rise

For the past decade, due to higher demand for university degrees and globalization, Japanese schools have added more and more programs that are fully in English to attract and satisfy the needs of today’s world.
